The Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and Microfinance (RICEM), in collaboration with the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA), has successfully concluded a five-day Internal Control and Audit Training for DSACCOs.
The training was organized under the DSACCO Capacity Development Program approved by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN), the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA), RICEM, and DSIK. Throughout the five-day programme, participants strengthened their knowledge and practical skills in governance, internal control systems, audit practices, and risk management.
The training brought together Board Chairpersons, Supervisory Committee members, Internal Auditors, Managing Directors, and Directors of Administration and Finance (DAFs) from participating DSACCOs. The sessions focused on strengthening internal control mechanisms, promoting accountability, and enhancing the capacity of participants to effectively manage credit, operational, liquidity, and compliance risks while safeguarding members’ deposits and institutional capital.
Speaking at the closing of the programme, RICEM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting cooperative financial institutions through continuous professional development and capacity-building initiatives that contribute to stronger governance, improved financial sustainability, and enhanced service delivery.
RICEM extends its sincere appreciation to the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA), its partners, facilitators, and all participants for their active engagement and commitment throughout the training. Together, we continue to build resilient, transparent, and sustainable cooperative financial institutions in Rwanda.
