TRAINING OF ‘EFFECTIVE GOVERNANCE’ to SACCOs

From 17th to 19th February, RICEM conducted trainings on Effective Governance for Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) to 23 SACCOs from different districts of the country whereby each SACCO had to be represented by 3 BOARD members (Chairman, President of the credit committee and President of the supervisory committee) and the total number of participants was 65. The main objective of that training was to provide knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior as far as effective governance is concerned to BOARD committees of SACCOs namely CA, Supervisory committee and Credit Committee.

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Kevin KAVUGIZO, the Director of Microfinance supervision at the Central Bank promised a continuous support to RICEM in the organization of the trainings for Governance and other areas in the Microfinance sector. He also requested RICEM to extent the similar training to all 416 SACCOs.
