The Government of Rwanda with the intention of building a critical mass of young Rwandan entrepreneurs who in turn will become job provides instead of job seekers, Rwanda is providing necessary training about entrepreneurship and providing existing and potential entrepreneurs with the right skills and knowledge to become competitive players in the local or global market. Entrepreneurs are envisaged as ’problem solvers’, ’innovators’, ’risk takers’ people with different perspectives towards social and economic solutions.

It is in that context that through Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Government of Rwanda and the Republic of India With the purpose of mutual economic development of both governments, the side of Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) and on side of Republic of India through the Ministry of External Affairs Government of India, they agreed to set up the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), whereby this center will have an objective of promoting MSMEs, employment-generating and industrial development in Rwanda.

Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives Entrepreneurship and Microfinance (RICEM) has been selected by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to host the EDC and on side of the Republic of India, they will have to train the technical team and be involved in the implementation of the project for a period agreed up by both high authorities as mentioned above.

The official Inauguration of the Rwanda India Entrepreneurship Development Centre was done on 15th/November 2021 by the Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs of India
