Albert Uwayo, holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies, a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, and an Advanced Diploma in Philosophy. He brings over 15 years of dedicated service in community development, program management, and organizational leadership across diverse sectors. His expertise is further underscored by his PMP® certification, showcasing his proficiency in leading high-impact projects.
Currently serving as the Head of the Cooperatives Department at Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship, and Microfinance (RICEM), Albert oversees the Cooperative Resilience and Equity Activity (CORE), a USAID-funded initiative. In this capacity, he manages project activities, coordinates non-financial cooperative interventions, and engages stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational and developmental objectives.
Previously, as Program Director at Spark Microgrants, Albert spearheaded program design, implementation, and coordination, fostering collaboration and innovation within the organization. His tenure was marked by significant achievements in capacity building, strategic planning, and gender mainstreaming, reflecting his unwavering commitment to inclusive community development. Additionally, he supported the organization at the regional level, contributing to the expansion of programs in Malawi and Ghana. Notably, he led numerous work missions to Ghana, gaining valuable international exposure and experience.
Albert’s diverse experience includes roles such as District Coordinator at the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) and Cooperative Capacity Building Officer at Rwanda Cooperative Agency. Furthermore, his contributions to the USAID Twiyubake Project in Capacity Building and Referral Networks Officer and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning roles, working respectively with AVSI Rwanda and FXB Rwanda, demonstrate his adeptness in navigating NGO settings and driving impactful initiatives.
