Faustin Bigaruka

Mr. Faustin Bigaruka is a financial sector and business development expert with a vast experience in financial institutions’ strengthening and professionalization, access to finance, SMEs and markets systems development.

He is currently working at German Sparkassenstiftung Eastern Africa (DSIK) as Capacity Development Advisor where he is responsible for enhancing the professional capacity of actors of the economic sectors cooperatives, SMEs and MFIs through providing competitive capacity building packages that sustainably foster their economic development.

Previously, He served as access to Finance Advisor at USAID Feed the Future Hinga Weze program in Rwanda, where he performed relevant tasks by supporting and facilitating the agribusiness investment, business development and access to finance among the program beneficiaries through a tailored technical assistance to both demand and supply sides of financial services. He is experienced in emerging the microfinance sector, agriculture markets systems, cooperatives and SMEs in private sector, local and international donor-funded development programs in Rwanda.

He is very adept at assessing sectors (MFIs, SMEs and Cooperatives) gaps and analytical skills to understand sector markets, actors, structures and policy frameworks in order to develop business development strategies and formulate team objectives. He has achieved successful milestones in structured projects regarding the development of financial sector, SMEs and Cooperatives. Faustin Bigaruka is also an enthusiastic writer, presenter and communicator who is able to engage with clients, beneficiaries, partners and teams at large. Apart from English and French, he is able to speak other three languages.

Mr. Faustin Bigaruka holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from the University of Rwanda.
