Vumi Kacheche

Vumi Kacheche is the head of Vocational and Commercial Education Program at German Sparkassenstiftung Eastern Africa (DSIK) in Rwanda. He has worked with DSIK for more than 7 years and has served in other positions. As head of program, he is majorly responsible for supervising and steering the planning and implementation of DSIK’s capacity development and financial literacy components with partners including MINICOM, RICEM and ULK.

Together with 4 colleagues in his team, they work on various topics targeted for both the demand and supply side of the microfinance sector including the Dual Apprenticeship System (DAS), Business Development Advisors (BDA) training, coaching for entrepreneurs, Business Game Simulations, Entrepreneurship Summer School (ESS), financial education trainings among others.

His background is international and development economics with specialty in prop-poor growth, economic and financial inclusion for low-income groups.
Mr. Kacheche holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with education from the University of Rwanda, college of education and a master’s degree in International and Development Economics from the University of Applied Sciences, Berlin-Germany.

He is a certified microfinance expert from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and is a research associate with the Economic Policy Research Network.
